The Knight project: A kitchen and bath remodel that was scaled back from the original plan to meet a revised budget.

The Knight’s came to us with the request to maximize and update their kitchen and bath. For the kitchen, our plan was to tear out a wall and really open it up. With the coming of the soft economy, the budget was reduced. We came up with a Plan B that could meet both the client’s budget goals, and their hope to update their kitchen. We ended up keeping the walls as they were, removed a non-bearing beam to clean up the ceiling line and removed the popcorn ceiling.

We installed new cabinets, granite countertops in the kitchen and bath with a tile backsplash, including a custom made sailboat mural. There was new carpet installed in the adjoining family room (which has a wall of cabinets in the near future plan). Also new millwork throughout. There were several areas where custom finish carpentry was required to tie in to the existing windows and structure. The entire area was repainted and new lighting was installed.

We replaced the tub with a tile shower with a custom glass enclosure and door. New cabinets and plumbing along with a heated tile floor we also included.

The final effect was to brighten and refresh the home with more usable space on both the counters and in the cabinets.
